Not everyone we work with ends up becoming a part of our family. However, there are some rare souls who effortlessly enters our life and make a place in our heart. Irrfan Khan shared a similar kind of bond with filmmaker Shoojit Sircar. These two talented souls worked together in ‘Piku‘ and were all set to collaborate once again for ‘Sardar Udham Singh‘. Sadly, Irrfan’s health deteriorated over time and unfortunately, he died on April 29.

Shoojit recently opened up about missing his dear friend Irrfan and how ‘Sardar Udham Singh’ is a tribute to him.

Remembering the late actor Irrfan, Shoojit told Mid-Day, “I think about Irrfan every day. His image floats in front of my eyes. We had grown close in the past two years when he underwent treatment. During his last 10 days, I was following up with Sutapa (Irrfan’s wife) and Babil. Babil broke the news to me that morning. I still feel Irrfan is with me, talking to me. I can never get over his loss.”

For the biopic ‘Sardar Udham Singh’, Shoojit wanted to wait for Irrfan to recuperate and return to shoot when fit. However, destiny had other plans and eventually, Vicky Kaushal replaced Irrfan. Shoojit now says that ‘Sardar Udham Singh’ is an ode to the late actor Irrfan.

The shooting of the biopic was halted due to the lockdown, and now that restrictions are being eased, the filmmaker said that they will begin the shoot soon and all the guidelines issued by the government will be followed.

However, he also expressed that shooting without human interactions will be very difficult.“The future at work won’t be easy. Shooting is best done in utter chaos. A film can’t be shot with constraints; it needs human interaction. But the virus is here to stay. So, we have to realign our methods,” Sircar told the tabloid.
