A dacoit drama featuring Sushant Singh Rajput, Bhumi Pednekar, Manoj Bajpayee and Ranvir Shorey seems to have landed in legal trouble. A Gwalior based NGO named Shiksha Mitr Foundation has slammed a notice alleging that the small town in Madhya Pradesh has been shown in a bad light. The film ‘Sonchiriya’ is scheduled to release on March 21.

The stars of ‘Sonchirya’ released videos of Chambal tourism and dared people to visit the town asking ‘Aake Toh Dikhao’. According to the NGO, the motion posters and videos have been maligning the image of Chambal. The organisation demanded the removal of certain sections from the film and a written apology from the makers. They also threatened to take action if their demands are not met.

The motion posters that have created a furore carry the stamp of Chambal tourism and take a jibe at the lawlessness of the land.

While shooting for the film in Chambal, Sushant Singh told IANS, “Shooting for Abhishek Chaubey’s film is on full swing. I came here in Chambal early to do a bit of warm-up for the film. Visiting ravines, talking to locals, working on dialect and inflection and a bit of cut-off from everything before the shoot helps keep the right things in perspective.”

Talking about its Pakistan release, Producer Ronnie Screwvala in an interview with CineBlitz said, “None of our films, including ‘Sonchiriya’, will be released in Pakistan.”
