On Friday, Sonu Sood took to social media to express his support for Alia Bhatt after her recent appearances at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival. Since Alia’s debut at the festival, she has faced significant online trolling, with some social media users claiming she was “ignored” by international paparazzi during one of her outings. Sonu Sood DEFENDS Alia Bhatt Amid Cannes 2026 Trolling
Sonu posted his note on X, formerly known as Twitter, and on Instagram. He wrote, “When one of our own walks onto an international stage, it should be a moment of pride, not a reason to search for flaws,” without specifically mentioning Alia’s name. He added, “Not every achievement needs validation from cameras, headlines, or strangers to be meaningful. The courage to stand there, represent your craft, and carry your journey with grace is an achievement in itself.”

“In a world addicted to trolling, choose encouragement. Because people who are busy building dreams don’t have time to pull others down. Keep shining, my friend. The right people saw your light,” Sonu concluded. Although he did not directly mention Alia, social media users quickly interpreted his post as a reference to her, leading many fans to flood the comments with messages of support for the actress.
Alia Responds To A Troll
Meanwhile, Alia herself addressed a comment from a troll who wrote, “Nobody noticed you.” On Wednesday, she shared a reel showcasing her elegant look in a custom ivory silk saree-gown at Cannes. In the comments, someone remarked, “What a pity, no one noticed you,” accompanied by a laughing emoji. Not one to back down, Alia replied gracefully, saying, “Why pity love? You noticed me :).”
This marked her second time walking the Cannes red carpet, following her debut in 2025. She wowed in a peach gown at the opening ceremony, turned heads in an ivory silk saree-gown at the Bharat Pavilion’s inaugural event, and enchanted audiences with her Cinderella-like blue gown at the screening of La Vie d’Une Femme. The festival, which began on May 12, runs until May 23.
