Suriya starrer Sudha Kongara directorial Soorarai Pottru will be remade in Hindi. The news has been announced by Suriya himself on Twitter. Suriya’s 2D Entertainment and Abundantia Entertainment today announced joining hands to remake the globally applauded movie. The Hindi remake will be directed by Sudha Kongara. The South superstar made the big announcement as he tweeted, “Excited to announce our association with @Abundantia_Ent lead by @vikramix for #SooraraiPottru in Hindi, Directed by #SudhaKongara.”

Tamil movie Soorarai Pottru was released on Amazon Prime on November 12, 2020, amidst the COVID-19 lockdown. The film received an overwhelming response from critics and audiences and Suriya was raved for his performance. It had also entered the Oscars race in the categories of Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score. But it failed to be in the final list of Oscar nominations.

Soorarai Pottru is based on the biography of Capt Gopinath, founder of the low-cost airline, Air Deccan. Apart from Suriya and Aparna Balamurali, the movie also starred Mohan Babu, Paresh Rawal, Krishnakumar, Vivek Prasanna, and Karunas in pivotal roles. Directed by Sudha Kongara, the movie was produced by Suriya.
