Sreeleela To Replace Janhvi Kapoor In Vikrant Massey, Lakshya Starrer Dostana 2? Here’s What We Know

Dostana 2 made headlines when Dharma Productions announced that Kartik Aaryan would no longer be part of the film due to ‘professional circumstances.’ in 2021. The film, also starring Janhvi Kapoor and newcomer Lakshya, was put on hold. He was supposed to debut with Dostana 2, but later made his big-screen debut with Kill.

Sreeleela Top Pick For Vikrant Massey, Lakshya’s Dostana 2

Now, as per recent reports, Dostana 2 is back in the works. While Lakshya will still be in the movie, Vikrant Massey has replaced Kartik Aaryan. Janhvi Kapoor, too, is no longer part of the project. Instead, the makers are in talks with South Indian actress Sreeleela, who gained popularity for her dance number in Pushpa 2: The Rule. Her growing popularity and fresh appeal have made her a top choice.

The makers wanted to cast actors who haven’t worked together before, to bring something new to the screen, as per News 18 source. Sreeleela is currently filming another project with Kartik Aaryan and is in high demand.

The film will also have a new director. Earlier, Collin D’Cunha was set to direct, but now Secret Superstar director Advait Chandan is expected to helm the film. Filming may begin in September or early next year, depending on Vikrant Massey’s schedule for Don 3.

In a past interview, Lakshya had expressed disappointment when Dostana 2 was shelved. He admitted it affected his morale deeply and made him doubt if his second film would ever happen. He said he needed a project badly to regain his confidence as an actor. Now, with the film being revived, Lakshya has another chance to shine on the big screen.
