Raveena Tandon slams industry wives for supporting predatory husbands

The Tanushree Dutta and Nana Patekar controversy has shaken Bollywood to the core. While some celebrities have come out in support of the actress whereas others have maintained a silence on the subject. 90s superhit actress Raveena Tandon too voiced her opinion on the latest controversy by extending solidarity with Tanushree saying, “The deafening silence on #TanushreeDutta case is sickening.”

The ‘Mohra’ star called out to Bollywood actresses and also to star wives for remaining silent about or, even worse, instigating sexual harassment on film-sets.

She took to her social media handle and put forward her views on the subject through a series of tweets. Though the ‘Tip Tip Barsa’ actress did not take any names, netizens soon started linking them with Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna. It is no secret that Akshay and Raveena were rumoured to be dating each other. But Akshay married Twinkle.

Raveena tweeted, “What defines harassment in a workplace? The fact that many industry wives/girlfriends are silent observers or instigators, when actor-husbands destroy the actresses’ careers after the chase and flirtation is over, have them replaced with other potential targets?”

Raveena opened up on Tanushree Dutta’s sexual harassment allegations on Nana Patekar and tweeted, “When our industry fails to stand for and protect its own. They get their chance and lose it. Makes our films on women empowerment hollow. The deafening silence on #TanushreeDutta case is sickening. I remember the controversy breaking out.”

She also shared the video footage of a mob attacking Dutta’s car and tweeted, “Seeing this footage for the first time. Shudder to think what she went through. Her face showing such brave calm. There is a goon with a camera in his hand? Was he a media person? Trace these scumbags even now, register a case, lock them up. What are the cops standing by watching?”

Raveena even opened up on working with Nana Patekar and wrote,“Sadly no witnesses or proof. So one couldn’t say. But obviously, for her, this has been a life-changing incident. I’ve worked with Nana too (Mustafa), had heard about his volatile temper, but never witnessed. In fact, he was courteous and helpful.”
