After director Sriram Raghavan worked with Varun Dhawan in ‘Badlapur’, he was very keen on singing him as the leading hero for his next as well. Unfortunately, that could not see the light of the day as Varun himself backed out of the project.
The filmmaker recently went on record to confirm that his next was not going to feature Varun Dhawan. And the actor who has caught Sriram’s fancy now is Harshvardhan Kapoor. Sriram had said, “The film is in progress, but not with Varun. It is a black comedy with a thriller element to it.”
The film is a dark thriller about a musician who fakes being blind. The movie also features Tabu and in spite of such a strong concept, Varun rejected the film stating that Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Kaabil’ too is about a blind man. “There’s already another film, ‘Kaabil’, about a blind man coming before that and Varun was uncomfortable playing a blind man so soon after that,” adds the source.
“Playing a blind man entails a lot of research and time and the actor wants to focus on commercial entertainers right now. There would be obvious comparisons with Hrithik. Moreover, VD wasn’t convinced about the film’s commercial viability and so, turned it down.”
Now Harshvardhan himself has confirmed his next next Sriram saying, “Yes, I love Sriram’s films. When I heard the idea, I literally jumped at it. It’s incredible. It’s yet another thriller from him.”
Harshvardhan will be making his Bollywood debut with ‘Mirzya’ this Friday and already has quite few offers in his kitty.
