In a statement to ANI, talking about her decision, the actress said, “My political and social sensibilities refuse to allow vested interests in the party to use me as a mean to fight petty in-house politics instead of working on a bigger goal in Mumbai Congress.”

The actress in her statement has also stated that she stands by all (her) thoughts and ideologies and will continue to work for people to the best of her capacity with honesty and dignity.

Urmila had contested the Lok Sabha elections (2019) from Mumbai North Parliamentary constituency, however, she had lost it. Interestingly earlier after joining the party, Urmila had said, “I am here because I believe in the ideology of Congress and what the party stands for. I have not joined the party for the sake of elections.”

So now, the news of the actress quitting the party comes as a surprise to all her fans and followers out there.
