Legendary music composer, Pyarelal Sharma’s wife, Sunila Pyarelal Sharma, is no more. Sunila passed away on July 12 at the age of 78. Her family took to social media and shared the heartbreaking news via an official statement. In it, they revealed that she breathed her last peacefully in the presence of her loved ones. Pyarelal’s Wife Sunila Sharma Passes Away At 78
Singer Priyanka Mitra took to her Instagram account and shared the sad news of Sunila Pyarelal’s demise. Pyarelal’s family’s statement read, “With deep grief and love in our hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Amma, Sunila Pyarelal Sharma, who left for her heavenly abode on 12 July, 2026, surrounded by the warmth of her family.”
It further stated, “Amma lived a life of grace, devotion, and quiet strength – a pillar of unconditional love to all who knew her. While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing she is finally at peace. We are deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support of our family and friends during this time. Your work here is beautifully finished, Amma. Rest in eternal peace.”
Sunila’s Last Rites
Sunila Pyarelal’s family also announced that her last rites will be held today, July 13 at the Dattatray Road Crematorium in Santacruz (West), Mumbai. Family members, close friends and several personalities from the entertainment industry are expected to attend the funeral to pay their final respects.
While Sunila Sharma was not a professional singer, she was a familiar face in the Indian music fraternity. In recent years, she was seen alongside the composer on music reality shows, including Indian Idol 13, where the couple appeared as special guests for a tribute episode dedicated to the legendary composer duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal.
For those who don’t know, Pyarelal is one half of the iconic Laxmikant-Pyarelal duo. The two are responsible for transforming the landscape of Hindi film music. Together with the late Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar, Pyarelal composed music for hundreds of films including classics like Bobby, Amar Akbar Anthony, Karz, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Hero, Mr. India, Ram Lakhan, Tezaab, Ek Duuje Ke Liye and Utsav.
