The 'Padmaavat' drama continues: A man threatens to set himself on fire

Film ‘Padmaavat’ has been in news for all the wrong reasons since it’s inception. The film starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead faced protest during the shooting in Rajasthan because of which the shooting of the film had to be stalled for a few days. But, the film is now all set to hit theaters but the Road seems to be a bumpy one. (Also Read: Padmaavat: Is Karni Sena now challenging Supreme Court’s decision over the film’s release?)

The film after a few modifications and change in the title is now all set to release on January 25.

Now since the film is releasing on January 25, with each passing day we hear news of how groups or individuals are staging the protest against the film as they don’t want the film to release. Today was no different as a youth in Bhilwara, Rajasthan climbed a 350 feet tall mobile tower with a bottle of petrol in his hand and threatened to burn himself. The protester said he will come down only when ‘Padmaavat’ is banned in the country. Here, have a look at the pictures of the protest :

India is a democratic country and every individual has a right to put forward his or her point. But staging such protest clearly is undemocratic as the Supreme Court of India has cleared the film and lifted ban from the states who had imposed it earlier. But looks like the protest against the films seems to have no end.

We wish the film has a peaceful release in the theaters just like any other film.

Padmaavat: Is Karni Sena now challenging Supreme Court’s decision over the film's release?

Just few days are left to experience the magic of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic period drama ‘Padmaavat’ on the big screen. Amidst several controversies around the film, Supreme Court had recently ordered that no state government would ban the film. This decision was taken after the government of states like Rajasthan, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh had banned the release of the film, even after it was cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). But, the problem doesn’t seem to end here.

Today, Lokendra Singh Kalvi, chief of Shri Rajput Karni Sena has said in his statement that they would not allow the film to be released at any cost. Well, this means that Karni Sena in a way is challenging Supreme Court’s decision. (Also Check: Padmaavat: Ticket counter at a theatre set on fire by Karni Sena)

Lokendra Singh Kalvi has told a news agency, “We will not allow the film to be released at any cost. The Supreme Court has directed the state governments to ensure release of the film, but not to us (Karni Sena). Once the film is released, the outburst of people will be enormous and cinema halls will be responsible for the cost.”

“I request other state governments who had earlier declared they would ban the film to come forward and file a petition in the Supreme Court to stop the release of the film,” added the chief of Shri Rajput Karni Sena.

The apex court is to hear a plea tomorrow by the Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan governments seeking a ban on the film’s release. They have took the support of the Cinematograph Act where a film screening can be stopped on grounds of law and order in the state.

Well, we are wondering that what will be the fate of ‘Padmaavat’ and will it have a peaceful release or not.

Only time will tell.
