We are huge fans of everything Sridevi Kapoor stands for. Right from her acting chops (grr, it doesn’t even need a mention), mesmerising adahh, diva-like personality to unmatchable grace. And when she shows up in sarees…it’s a whole new ball game altogether. The lady is unbeatable in her ethnic looks and this time too, we loved the way she’s looking at the Zee Cine Awards 2018. But here’s the glitch. (Also read: Sridevi just out-styled everyone at Masala Awards and we are amazed!)

Sridevi wearing a Banarasi saree is a deadly combination. And if the traditional weave is from ace designer Sabyasachi, then the actress has to be beauty personified from head to toe. But we’re not sure if this jazzy, overly ethnic look was the apt choice for the occasion. While there’s absolutely no problem with a desi ensemble, it looked like the actor thought it was a wedding and not a glamorous awards function. Why we’re saying that?

Well, for starters, the gorgeous gold saree with silver work has a rich, shiny texture and is more than royal. Sridevi paired the number with a matching blouse in intense brown with gold detailing. To top it all, she paired it with heavy gold jewellery that included a chunky necklace, jhumkas with hints of green and gold kadas. And for some reason, the stylist decided to add a flashy velvet fringe clutch that went wayyy overboard. The actress rounded off the look with dark kohl eyes, hair tied up in a bun adorned with huge red roses and a red lip. Really? Why would you opt for red lips and red flowers for such a busy saree?

It just feels so overkill. We’re going to have to probably look at some soothing, muted outfits worn by Katrina Kaif or Jacqueline Fernandez at the same awards function to help our eyes recover from the loud colours.

What do you think?
