‘Dishoom’: Varun Dhawan upset over the film’s ban in Pakistan

John Abraham and Varun Dhawan starrer ‘Dishoom‘ that hit the theatres yesterday has been receiving some rave reviews at the box office. While it is being liked by audiences in India, the movie might not see the light of the day in the neighbouring country, Pakistan.

The said film deals with the kidnapping of an Indian cricketer just 36 hours before the final match between Pakistan and India. The trailer itself had raised eyebrows and now the country’s censor board claims that the film shows Pakistan in a bad light and has banned the movie. This decision however did not go down well Varun Dhawan, who took to his Twitter account to express his displeasure.

He tweeted,

Really upset that #Dishoom is banned in pakistan. I don’t think the film eventually shows any country in a bad light. It’s a wrong decision

In one of his previous interviews, Varun had explained how the film is not against Pakistan. He had said, “I would like to clear this. There is no negative reference against Pakistan or any community. It is a very positive representation. In fact, what we are trying to show is that for certain people money is their religion. It’s not being an Indian, Pakistani, Hindu, Muslim or Christian. In the capitalistic world that we live in, money is the biggest driving force for most crimes.”

The movie, which also stars John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead roles is directed by Rohit Dhawan.
