The weekend box office race is beginning to take shape, but not every new release is experiencing the bounce that exhibitors had hoped for after opening day. Expectations were high for Bollywood’s big comedy collaboration, David Dhawan’s latest film, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, starring Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, and Mrunal Thakur. According to trade website Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 7.25 crore on its second day. This follows an opening day collection of Rs 7.50 crore, showing that the film remained largely flat on Saturday without significant growth. With these numbers, the film’s India net collection stands at Rs 14.75 crore, and its gross collection has reached Rs 16.38 crore.

Day-Wise Breakdown

The film’s modest performance is set against stiff competition from other current releases. Ram Charan’s sports drama Peddi continues to draw audiences and reportedly earned over Rs 2 crore from Hindi shows on Saturday alone. Additionally, the Hollywood thriller Obsession is holding steady, crossing Rs 4.71 crore in collections on Saturday.
