Simran, Lucknow Central

The first week has been a poor one for the new releases ‘Simran’ and ‘Lucknow Central’. Kangana Ranaut-starrer ‘Simran’ did a business of Rs 13.25 crore nett. That makes it evident that the movie has no chances of touching even Rs 20 crore nett. The growth over the first weekend wasn’t good and the movie opened to dull numbers and the Monday business which fell from Rs 3.65 crore on Sunday to Rs 1.15 crore proved that the movie has less chances of survival over the weekdays. The movie managed to do a decent business at premium multiplexes but managing a decent business at fifty odd multiplexes is not going to turn tables for the box office fate of the movie.

Talking about Farhan Akhtar and Diana Penty-starrer ‘Lucknow Central’, it did an even lower business than ‘Simran’ as it raked in approximately Rs 10.75 crore nett in the first week. On Thursday, the movie managed to be at par with ‘Simran’ with a difference of just few lakhs in their respective collections. Going by the weekday trend, the movie should do better than ‘Simran’, but with new entrants like ‘Haseena Parkar’, ‘Bhoomi’ and ‘Newton’, it seems like the end for these two movies. The other release ‘Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi’ was a disaster as it did a business of 75 lakhs in the first week.
