Welcome To The Jungle Box Office Day 2: Akshay Kumar-Led Comedy Witness Growth; Inches Towards Rs 50 Cr Mark Domestically

Released on Friday, June 27, the third instalment in the Welcome franchise – Welcome to the Jungle, has impressed the public. The film – which opened to mixed reviews from fans an critics, stars over 30 actors and has checked all the right boxes when it comes to delivering an entertaining and nostalgia-filled comedy. As reported by trade website Sacnilk, the Akshay Kumar, Jackie Shroff and Suniel Shetty-led comedy witness substantial growth on Day 2. Through 10,396 shows on Saturday, the Ahmed Khan-directorial earned an impressive Rs 20 crore, taking its domestic nett total collection to Rs 39 crore.

As reported by Indian Express, the film registered an overall Hindi occupancy of 33%. The film recorded the highest number of shows – 860 shows, in the Delhi-NCR region and had an occupancy of 39.8%. Mumbai – with 692 shows, saw 41% occupancy. The overall occupancy of the film was around 35%.

As per the makers’ post, the comedy film – featuring an ensemble cast, collected Rs 59.40 crore gross at the worldwide box office in just two days. They noted that the Akshay Kumar-starrer earned Rs 19.40 crore nett in India on its opening day, followed by Rs 21.02 crore gross on Day 2. Overseas, the film grossed Rs 4.70 crore and Rs 7 crore on Day 2, amounting to a gross overseas total of Rs 11.70 crore.

Giving the film a 3.5 star rating, Bollywood Bubble wrote in its review, “Welcome To The Jungle never pretends to be anything other than a loud, unapologetic comedy. Several gags land successfully, especially in the second half. The ensemble cast shares excellent chemistry. Nostalgic references to the Welcome universe will delight longtime fans. The climax is chaotic in the best possible way and delivers genuine laughs. Family audiences will appreciate the clean humour and mass appeal.”

It also noted, “If you’re looking for meaningful cinema, this may not be your destination. But if you’re ready to switch off your brain and enjoy two-plus hours of pure comic mayhem, Welcome To The Jungle delivers exactly what it promises.”

The film is directed by Ahmed Khan and written by Late Neeraj Vora with dialogues penned by Farhad Samji. The star cast includes several top Bollywood names such as Akshay Kumar, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani and Raveena Tandon. The ensemble comedy also features Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Farida Jalal, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Mika Singh, Mukesh Tiwari, Zakir Hussain, Yashpal Sharma, Lara Dutta, Aftab Shivdasani, Kiran Kumar and Vindu Dara Singh in pivotal roles.
