Pranit More Rs 370 Biryani Row: Maharashtra Cyber Cell Registers FIR Against Comedian, Himanshu Jangra And Others For Objectionable Content

Stand-up comedian Pranit More has been in the spotlight ever since an audience member at his show caused controversy by sharing a personal story about a date. The debate intensified after Himanshu Jangra from Gurugram revealed that he had spent Rs 370 on chicken biryani during a date and expected reciprocation in the form of physical intimacy.

Himanshu further detailed how he kissed and touched the woman and persuaded her to do so despite her reluctance. While Himanshu faced widespread criticism and was even dismissed from his job, many also pointed fingers at Pranit for laughing at his remarks rather than stopping him or addressing the issue appropriately.

Maharashtra Cyber Cell Registers FIR Against Pranit More, Himanshu Jangra

As of the latest update, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell has registered an FIR against Pranit and others involved. According to ANI, “The Office of the Additional Director General of Police, Maharashtra Cyber, serves as the nodal office for all cyber-related matters in the State of Maharashtra. Maharashtra Cyber continues to monitor online platforms and social media ecosystems to identify and take appropriate action against content and activities that may violate applicable laws and adversely affect public order, dignity, and societal interests.”

The FIR, numbered 36/2026 U/s 75(1)(iv), 75(3), 294, 353(2) Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 in conjunction with section 67 of the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000, targets those involved in the dissemination of allegedly obscene and objectionable content via online platforms and social media, including Pranit More, Himanshu Jangra, Dr. Sejal Pawar, and others.

What Did Authorities Say?

Authorities clarified that the case stems from videos and clips circulated on YouTube, Instagram, and other social media outlets related to a program hosted by Pranit More. The content allegedly includes obscene, offensive, and objectionable remarks concerning women, consent, and deceased persons, which violate societal norms and criminal law.

The Maharashtra Cyber investigation revealed that one of the clips featured Himanshu Jangra suggesting he was entitled to physical intimacy in exchange for money spent on a date, thereby degrading women and trivialising issues of consent and dignity. Many celebrities, including Ayesha Khan and Kusha Kapila, criticised Pranit for amplifying the remark rather than challenging it.

Both Himanshu and Pranit issued apologies. The incident has sparked a broader discussion about accountability in comedy, audience engagement, and content creators’ responsibilities. It was in regard to sharing potentially harmful views. Meanwhile, Pranit has deactivated his Instagram account.
