Ameesha Patel opened up about a decision she now regrets—turning down Salman Khan’s cult film Tere Naam. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, she reflected on the missed opportunity. The actress admitted she wished she hadn’t declined the offer, revealing that the project was still uncertain when it first came to her. With no fixed schedule or director initially attached, Patel chose prior commitments over the film. However, as the film later took shape under Satish Kaushik, she realised it was, in her own words, “definitely my loss.” Scroll down to read what she said and watch the full interview.
Ameesha Patel Regrets Turning Down Salman Khan’s Tere Naam
When asked if she rejected Salman Khan’s Tere Naam, Ameesha Patel said, “Ji bilkul. Actually, kaash main mana nahi karti. Lekin us waqt jab Salman ne mujhe Tere Naam offer ki thi, sirf gaane ban chuke the aur film ka idea aur kahani thi, aur unhone mujhe narrate kiya. You know, mujhe gaane bhi sunaye. Tab na dates aaye thi, na director kaun hoga ye bhi fix nahi tha. So it was all up in the air, bas ye tha ki film karni hai. Salman was very excited about Tere Naam, and rightly so.”
She continued, “Phir jab finally sab finalise hua, jab Satish Kaushik ji on board aaye aur baaki cheezein set hui, tab tak I was already busy and committed in other projects. Film actually bahut saare directors ke through gayi, back and forth hota raha. Kabhi koi karne wala tha, kabhi koi aur. Kabhi start hone wali thi, kabhi delay hojaati thi. So it was a lot of back and forth, aur kuch bhi properly set nahi tha. As an actor, main apne doosre commitments se time nahi nikal sakti thi, kyunki main already numerous logon ko dates de chuki thi ek aise project ke liye jo uncertain tha.”
Concluding, Ameesha said, “You know, agar Salman mere paas set dates aur ek fixed director ke saath aate, aur sab ready hota, toh of course main Tere Naam jaisi film kabhi mana nahi karti. Not with Salman, and especially such a beautiful film. Mujhe kahani bahut pasand aayi thi, aur gaane bhi bahut pasand aaye the, bahut hi khoobsurat gaane the. So yeah, it’s definitely my loss, you know. But unfortunately, main dates accommodate nahi kar paayi because the project was uncertain.”
