EXCLUSIVE: Deepakk Dutta Fears Being Typecast; Says, “I’m Still Hungry, Want To Explore Diverse, Engaging Roles”

In his career spanning over 25 years, Deepakk Dutta has performed across television, OTT platforms, and cinema. With shows like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Na Umr Ki Seema Ho, Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi, to his credit among others, on OTT he was seen in Imtiaz Ali’s Dr. Arora, Vijay Maurya’s Crash Course and in movies like M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Haasil, Bhagat Singh, and Dil Kabaddi. He was recently seen as Jeevan Ahuja in the Netflix trending family drama, Daadi Ki Shaadi.

Deepakk Dutta On Shooting Daadi Ki Shaadi

In a recent chat, Deepakk Dutta revealed that despite the intensity of Daadi Ki Shaadi shoot, he recalls the set as unusually harmonious, more like an extended family than a workplace. He shared, “The atmosphere throughout the shoot was wonderful, feeling just like a big family. Usually, when a cast and crew are stuck together for 50 to 55 days, arguments and grudges inevitably pop up, but we didn’t experience that at all.”

He further pointed that no one on set carried themselves like a star. He said, “Even the kids in the film were spectacular. Kapil Sharma never made anyone feel like he was the big star on set.”  

Deepakk added that Comedian Aditi Mittal – who made her acting debut with Daadi Ki Shaadi, added her own energy to the set. He shared, “Aditi Mittal, who is a well-known stand-up comedian, was incredibly fun and constantly kept us laughing. She kept everyone thoroughly entertained between shots and is a wonderful human being. This film was actually her acting debut, and it was also the first film for Riddhima Kapoor Sahni.”

Deepakk Dutta further revealed that shooting in the hills without vanity vans ended up bringing the cast closer together. He said, “Since we were shooting up in the hills, we didn’t have vanity vans. Instead, after our shots, we would all sit together around the set, which created a truly beautiful bonding experience.”

Deepakk: I Want To Avoid Getting Typecast

Looking ahead, Deepakk is candid about the roles he still wants to chase after 25 years in the industry. He said, “Having spent more than 25 years in this industry, there are still so many roles I want to conquer. I am eager to play a solid negative character. Many people have told me that my face doesn’t naturally suit villainous roles, but I would love to explore that dark space.”  

He’s equally drawn to more emotionally demanding work, and encouraged by the response to his last outing. He shared, “Aside from that, I also want to take on a deep, highly emotional character. I have received a wonderful response for Daadi Ki Shaadi.”  

As for what’s next, he’s already in motion. He shared, “Next, I will be doing another film with director Ashish R. Mohan. Looking ahead, I am still hungry for more. I want to explore diverse, engaging roles and avoid getting typecast.”
