yami gautam, yami gautam women centric films, yami gautam lost,

Yami Gautam has come a long way since her Bollywoood debut in Vicky Donor. The actress who won hearts with  satirical comedy Bala (2019) has established herself as a strong force over the years. She is back in OTT film LOST. The movie has her playing a crime journalist. Aheadof its release Yami Gautam got into an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble where she opened up on casting issues in female-led films.

Yami Gautaam on casting issues in female led films

On being asked about casting issues faced in female led films, She said, “Ya ya , I see that happening around. It happens it really happens and I hope that changes. I hope that actors now see the worth in certain roles, the worth in working with certain filmmakers. Its ok, I mean lets see today the times are changing in the sense that its not about the name anymore, of course there are certain kind of films which are mounted on certain names only but they are very different kind of films but now the focus is to get the right casting and that can happen with the newcomer also that’s why that’s how you see so many new faces now so if someone’s not taking up an opportunity, it’s an opportunity created for somebody else then. So its ok but it does happen.

She further added, “There is no denial about it that it is happening. It is hard to cast, casting is one of the most challenging jobs by the way. I feel for my producers that way I do feel it’s not and especially for producers and directorswho are very just quietly working on Merit and you know are not very social out there but just you know focusing on stories and all that.

Yami said, “I get it it is not easy yes as the first question asked is who is the hero? But now I feel that the question will be what is the character about? I hope, and who is the director? For me all these questions are very important and whatever you priorotise that is seen onscreen. Whatever makes you happy. Maybe some actors want to work in certain kind of films, they get such films.

Yami Gautam on making that change happen

She added, “One day I was watching Chaalbaaz, I love Sridevi mam who is one of the most versatile actresses ever be there. What an actor what a performance. She has a double role in the film. But the movie also features Rajini Sir, such a huge star, Sunny Deol Sir is also there such a huge star back then. So these issues were not there in those times. But I was just happy that though the film may be termed as woman oriented in present times but the story was based on the twins. We also have an example of Sanjeev Kumar and Dharmendra Sir from Seeta Aur Geeta. This is just a small phase I think as each brings a new change with it and I hope at least I am a part of that willing to make that change happen. But it will not happen overnight. I just want to focus on my character remainning does not bother me.”
