Fauji, Main Hoon Na to Jawan: Times when a uniform clad Shah Rukh Khan left us swooning

As the release date of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan inches closer, the excitement for the film is also growing. September 7 is just a week away but the day still seems too far. Yet, SRK gave something to his fans to keep up their hype by releasing Jawan trailer on August 31. While the whole trailer is action-packed, it was just amazing to see the actor in uniform again. It brought back memories of every time he has donned a uniform on screen, and here’s a recollection of that.

Fauji

Shah Rukh made his debut in television with the 1989 Doordarshan show Fauji. It was just the start of his career, and that soon, he got to play Lt. Abhimanyu Rai, a soldier on screen. This was the first time he played an Army man, not knowing how many more times he was going to get that privilege.

Army

The next time King Khan wore the military uniform was for a special appearance in the 1996 film Army. In the Sridevi starrer, the actor played Major Arjun Singh, her husband. Even though his role was small, SRK did get to experience the pride that the uniform brings.

Main Hoon Na

In Farah Khan’s debut directorial Main Hoon Na, Shah Rukh Khan donned the uniform again for a full-fledged role. He played Major Ram Prasad Sharma and left us swooning over his charm. The skills he showed with the gun and the action, were just too impressive.

Veer Zaara

The same year, SRK played an officer in the Air Force in Yash Chopra’s Veer Zaara. The love struck officer became the ideal romantic hero for a whole generation. The uniform never looked as good on any actor than it did on him in the film.

Bhoothnath

After having played an Army man and an Air Force pilot, this time the badshah took on the sea. He had a brief role in Bhoothnath where he played a naval officer. However, just seeing him in the navy uniform gave us the chills. A visual we wouldn’t mind seeing again and again.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan

Yash Chopra brought SRK back in the full glory of being a military officer. The gravitas that he brought to his role of Major Samar Anand was just too appealing. The actor pulled off the role with ease and power. And he left all of us drooling over how amazing he looked.

Jawan

A decade later, Shah Rukh Khan is back in uniform, and to make it more special, we see him donning not one but two uniforms. In Jawan trailer, we see SRK once in the cop avatar and then in a military attire too. That moustache just looks suave over him. Jawan just gets more and more exciting with each asset.

Shah Rukh and uniform look like a match made in heaven. Every time the actor gets in one, he just lights up the screen. Jawan is going to be another such offering and we can’t wait for its release.
