Ajay Devgn-Rohit Shetty on new generation of actors

During the chat, Karan Johar asked the actor-director duo their thoughts on the new generation of actors. To which, Rohit Shetty shared, “I think there is fighting spirit. There is too much insecurity or too much of validation they need from social media and from the people whom they don’t know. I think they are very insecure. And I don’t know why. Maybe they have their own thing because they are born in this generation. They even overthink every decision.”

Karan further pointed they are even hesitant to do multi-starrers. To this, Ajay Devgn reacted, “I think they don’t have the security of doing solos either. They take around three years to decide if I should do this or that.”

Ajay on not attending social gatherings

The Singham actor further revealed why he is not seen at Bollywood parties and gatherings. He admitted, “I was always like this. Initially, people thought I was arrogant but now they know I am like this. I have this discomfort of mingling with people and just chatting and talking. I would like to meet people but when it’s personal and private and quiet. Otherwise, I feel very awkward. If I decide to go out somewhere in the evening for a get-together, by the time I start falling sick. If I am genuinely sick, Kajol will say “You’re purposely doing it.”

Rohit Shetty on Cirkus failure

Ranveer Singh starrer Cirkus starring Ranveer Singh, was released in 2022 and turned out to be a box office disaster. Weighing on how he deals with failure, Rohit Shetty shared, “When Cirkus didn’t do well, Anupam Kher came to my office. One very good thing he said was, ‘After a point in your life, when you’ve worked so much, it’s the event that fails and not you’. And, yes, we went wrong. It was a film made during pandemic, even before Sooryavanshi was released. I feel somewhere me as a director went wrong with that film. And good it was a small film that I went wrong and not a big one. But three days later I was shooting for my web series. I’d didn’t affect me. Because once you realise that you have made a mistake, you can’t be an escapist. You sit and analyse what should be avoided in future.”

Ajay Devgn on Nysa being papped and Kajol’s social media game

The actor also admitted he is not happy with Nysa getting papped. He also revealed if Nysa has plans to enter the industry. “Of course, she doesn’t like it and so do I. But you can’t change it, so you live with it. It is what it is, doesn’t matter. Few people talking rubbish about you does not mean the whole world thinks the same about you. If one is not trolled, social media doesn’t work. If you are writing good things, no one is interested in reading it”, says Ajay.

Talking about his wife Kajol having a strong social media game, the actor quipped, “I laugh and we have fights because she says me to pose with her. And I am like, ‘I hate pictures’.”

Karan Johar on rift with Ajay Devgn

Ajay Devgn and Karan Johar were not on talking terms when Shivaay clashed with Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Recalling how Ajay was gracious despite the rift, KJo shared, “Whatever the altercation was and it was a misunderstanding and misconception, we didn’t speak. Kajol and I didn’t speak. I am sure he must have had a troubled time with his wife because we are such close friends. But he was very gracious.”
