The RajKummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Badhaai Do released in 2022. It shows two characters caught in a marital scenario, who fight to keep up with some hidden truths. As the movie unfolds, the the two characters in the movie, played by RajKummar and Bhumi, reveal that they belong to the LGBTQ+ community.

Kapoor & Sons

Starring Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt, and Fawad Khan in the lead, Kapoor & Sons is a slice of life narrative that deals around the concept, where a main character from the movie brings out his true self in front of his mother. Surprisingly, not many Bollywood characters wanted to play the role of a gay man. Ultimately, Fawad Khan played the character and garnered widespread acclaim for the same. It also gave a new perception to the notion of a ‘Bollywood actor’.

My Brother… Nikhil is a sensitive, emotional craft. It is regarding a story on gay community that stars Juhi Chawla, Purab Kohli and Sanjay Suri. The movie revolves around the narrative of same-sex love and revolves around societal stigmas on HIV.

Aligarh is created by ace filmmaker Hansal Mehta. The story revolves around a harsh reality on the constraints of society on restricting the freedom of an individual to choose its own life partner. The movie is inspired by a true story and received acclaim for its authentic portrayal. Sadly, it failed to created a significant impact at the box office.
