Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao also known as NT Rama Rao will always be remembered as one of the two pillars of the Telugu film industry. He passed away of a heart attack on 18 January 1996 at his residence in Hyderabad, at the age of 72. Now, on his 26th death anniversary today, his grandson Jr NTR paid a heartfelt tribute to his late grandfather.

Sharing the picture, the ‘Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava’ actor penned a note that read as: “In the hearts of the Telugu people today .. even today .. three times .. you are the pole star”

N. T. Rama Rao was also a politician who served as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for seven years over three terms. He starred in over 300 films, predominantly in Telugu cinema, and was referred to as Viswa Vikhyatha Nata Sarwa Bhouma.  Often addressed as the ‘messiah of the masses,’ NTR began his film journey in 1949. Rao’s contributions to Telugu cinema are unmatchable.

Widely recognized for his portrayal of mythological characters, Rao was one of the leading method actors of Indian cinema, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1968, recognizing his contribution to Indian cinema.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Jr NTR will be seen next in S. S. Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘RRR’ which also features , Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt. The film is a fictional story about two Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Rao), who fought against the British Raj and Nizam of Hyderabad.  The film was scheduled to be released theatrically on 7 January 2022 but was postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19.
