Yashita Sharma on Kareena Kapoor Khan

She has sung in movies like “2 States” and “Dil Dhadakne Do” and now singer Yashita Sharma says it is her dream to do playback for actress Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Yashita, who sung the popular romantic number “Chaandaniya” from the Alia Bhatt-Arjun Kapoor starrer “2 States”, says she identifies with Kareena’s character from the hit film “Jab We Met.”

“I would love to sing for Kareena. It has been my dream since childhood to do playback for her, especially because I relate to her character of Geet in ‘Jab We Met’ a lot. I think it would be wonderful if I get an opportunity in the future,” Yashita said.

The singer lent her voice to last year’s chartbuster “Gallan Goodiyaan” from “Dil Dhadakne Do”. She has now sung a song “Lapak Jhapak” in actor Sunny Deol’s upcoming action drama “Ghayal Once Again”.

Yashita says she was amazed when Deol praised the song.

“When we were recording the song, Sunny walked into the studio. All of us were awe-struck and stopped the recording for a while. Later when we finished it, he walked upto me, shook hands and just said ‘You did a good job’. He is very shy, so even that coming from him was a huge compliment for me. I was in complete awe,” she said.

Yashita was the first runner up on reality TV show “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge” in 2009. The singer feels that today reality shows have become monotonous and some singers from these shows lack the enthusiasm to make it big in Bollywood.

“There are so many reality shows today that the audience at times don’t want to watch it anymore. Some of them are monotonous in nature. For singers, it is talent, enthusiasm and the will to keep going which matters.

“I see some reality TV singers doing shows, earning money and being satisfied with what they have. But you need to have the hunger to keep going, otherwise there are many singers in the industry who are not from any reality show, but are still doing very good,” she said.
