Actor Akshay Kumar has appealed to Sushma Swaraj, Minister of External Affairs, to arrange for a fast evacuation of Indians who are stranded in Sudan, due to the recent violent events at Juba, in South Sudan. There has been an unrest in the area due to continuous conflicts between pro and anti-Government forces.

The ‘Airlift’ actor took his concerns to Twitter and wrote, “@SushmaSwaraj Ma’am request for speedy measures and actions to evacuate Indians stranded in Sudan. Prayers with them. #SaveIndiansInJuba”.

The Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj was prompt to respond and answered with a Tweet.  “Akshay Kumar ji – Pl do not worry. We are evacuating Indian nationals from Juba (South Sudan)”, she wrote.

Incidentally, Akshay Kumar had played the role of Ranjit Katyal in ‘Airlift’, a man who helps and escalates the evacuation of lakhs of fellow Indians who were stranded during Iraq’s invasion, in the 90s.
