Akshay Kumar and Saina Nehwal are criticised by the Naxalites

It is a known fact that actor Akshay Kumar has launched ‘Bharat Ke Veer’ app and website, an initiative for the willing donors who want to make some contribution towards the family of martyred soldiers. Recently, the actor and the badminton player Saina Nehwal had donated Rs 9 lakh and Rs 6 lakh respectively for the families of Sukma attack martyrs. However, the same is now being criticised by none other than the Naxalites.

According to a report in a leading daily, the local units of banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), also known as Naxalites, have criticised Akshay Kumar and Saina Nehwal for extending their help to these families. Expressing their anger through a pamphlet found in south Bastar, Chattisgarh, they have appealed to celebrities and well-known personalities to stand by the oppressed tribals and raise a voice against the violation of their human rights. (Also Read: The man on whose life Akshay Kumar’s ‘Airlift’ was based, passes away)

The reds want celebrities to take a stand against the oppression and exploitation of poor masses, who are at the receiving end of the armed forces, instead of supporting military personnel losing lives in action against the revolutionary forces.

Have a look at that pamphlet:

A senior security officer has said (regarding this pamphlet), “Naxalites have their own cultural wing like Chetna Manch, and often use the platform for propagation of their party ideologies. The Naxalites have always appealed to intellectuals like actors and artistes to support them against oppression, using the forums of cultural bodies to gain mass support. In the backdrop of the party’s agenda, the celebrities taking a stand against the rebels is harming their image in public, so they had to come up with a statement.” [sic]

Let’s wait to know that what Akshay Kumar and Saina Nehwal have to say about this.
