Shahid Kapoor REVEALS going against filmmakers to wear glasses in Jab We Met, was told “Hero glasses thodi pehenta hai”

Shahid Kapoor has been the heartthrob in Bollywood for many years. From delivering films like Haider, Padmavat, Vivaah, and many more, Shahid has come a very long way and is continuing to rule hearts. Speaking of his films, Jab We Met is one of the gems he has given in Bollywood. The film stands to be loved even today for its lightheartedness and love story.

Shahid essayed the role of Aditya Kashyap and starred alongside Kareena Kapoor who essayed the role of Geet. Both characters are iconic for multiple reasons. Given that, Geet was a bubbly and chirpy girl in Jab We Met whereas Aditya Kashyap was absolutely the opposite. The chocolate boy with glasses, and oh boy! With the way he made everyone fall in love with him!

Now, in an interview with Film Companion, Shahid Kapoor has shared that he had to convince the makers for him to wear glasses in the film. In the interview, Shahid said, “I fought with everybody. I was like, ‘I want to wear glasses for this,’ and everybody’s like, ‘Are you mad?’ Hero glasses thodi pehenta hai? Tu gaana kaise gayega?”  Well, Shahid had to make it clear that, initially, his character was suicidal and wanted to jump off the train.

Shahid opens up about the initial days of his career

Further, he also said that he had to take off his glasses while singing. During this, the response he got was, “Are you mad? This is a love story.” During the initial days of Shahid’s career, he had very boyish charms, a clean-shaven look. The Bloody Daddy actor also spoke about this and said, “Even after my first film became a hit, nobody was casting me because they looked at me and said, ‘We don’t write for guys who look like you. We write for guys who you know, are eight years older, who are men. We don’t write for boys.”

Well, there’s no doubt that the clean-shaven Aditya Kashyap was showered with love and praise for bringing out very relatable characters in Jab We Met. The film, helmed by Imtiaz Ali, also starred Kareena Kapoor.
