Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor shared screen space in Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya directed by Dharmesh Darshan. This was the first and last time the actors shared screen space. During the film, Abhishek and Karisma grabbed headlines because of their relationship. After dating for 5 months, the two got engaged in 2002 on Big B’s birthday. However, they called of the relationship due to unforeseen circumstances and it took a toll on the actress. In a recent interview, director Dharmesh Darshan revealed that due to breakup, the actress was distracted and troubled during the shoot of Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya.

In the interview, Dharmesh expressed disappointment over making that movie and said, “It’s not a film that I should have done. It’s one of their films which directors hand over to their assistants… It was the first and last time Abhishek and Karisma did a film together. Abhishek is a very sweet guy, but it wasn’t the same Lolo I’d seen during Raja Hindustani.” To note, Dharmesh and Karisma had previously worked together on the Aamir Khan-starrer, which remains his biggest hit.

He further opened up about Abhishek and Karisma’s equation post break-up. He shared, “Karishma was distracted, naturally, with the marriage thing… It showed in the film. I’m not a psychiatrist, I can’t interfere in their relationship. And I was hearing both sides, I’ll be honest with you. And I’m watching also…”

Further, reacting to Amitabh Bachchan calling Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya an ‘old-fashioned film’, Dharmesh said, “Yes, he said that. But Jaya ji loved the film, oddly. She loved the aggression of the girl, who says you had a one-night stand, I’m divorcing you. She loved that.”

Abhishek Bachchan is currently married to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and they are parents to daughter Aaradhya. While, after break-up, Karisma got married to businessmen Sanjay Kapur. However, the two parted ways.
