When Zeenat Aman permanently damaged her eyes after being brutally assaulted by ex-husband Sanjay Khan

Yesteryear actress Zeenat Aman was not just one of the most successful actresses but also considered the bold one of her generation. The Miss Asia Pacific pageant made her acting debut in 1971 with Dev Anand in the iconic film Hare Ram Hare Krishna and since then, there was no looking back for the actress. However, there have been ups and downs in her life that were traumatic for her. Though her professional life was going well, her personal life was quite tumultuous.

Her alleged relationship with actor Sanjay Khan hit headlines when the two worked together in Abdullah. Love blossomed between the two and they soon reportedly tied the knot. But the marriage between Sanjay Khan and Zeenat Aman did not last long yet was a traumatic one. According to a report in Cineblitz, Zeenat permanently damaged her eyes after a brutal assault by her own then-husband Sanjay Khan.

When Zeenat Aman’s eyes were damaged after the beating:

As per Cineblitz reports, Zeenat Aman was filming for a B R Chopra movie in Lonavala when she received a call from Sanjay Khan, asking her to come back to Bombay to reshoot a 2-minute scene for Abdullah. Zeenat denied his request at first as she had given dates to other filmmakers but due to her love for her husband, she returned.

On reaching Mumbai she headed straight for Sanjay Khan’s residence; however, she was later informed that he was partying in the hotel Taj with his wife Zarine Katrak. She reached the hotel to settle the issue of dates with Sanjay. He was shocked to see her at the party where his wife was present and took her to a room where she was brutally thrashed and beaten. As per the reports, Sanjay pulled her by her hair and punched her. Due to this, one of her eyes was permanently damaged, it was said that the incident was the result of a heavy hit on her brain. The horrifying incident was witnessed by their friends and family.

Zeenat then escaped with the help of a hotel employee and was bedridden for many days with her right eye severely injured. Reportedly, after the incident, she did not file any complaint against Sanjay Khan; however, when his brutal act was making headlines and received flak from people, he explained that Zeenat’s eye issue was a hereditary problem. Nevertheless, a source close to the actress revealed that the incident that took place in the hotel was true and the source witnessed everything.

“We all know what had happened between Sanjay Khan and Zeenat. I was a first-hand witness to it. First of all, anyone, who raises his hand on a woman and that too so brutally that she is scarred for life, should be in jail, not writing his self-glorifying fairytale biography. And secondly, if you were brazen enough to humiliate and hurt a lady in public, why are you shy of admitting it now? This is as bad as the film Sanju which completely whitewashed Sanjay Dutt’s image.”

Zeenat Aman has been a part of many hit flicks such as, ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’, ‘Don’, ‘Yaadon ki Baraat’, ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’, ‘Qurbani, Dostana’, ‘Dharam Veer’ and many more.
