Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim, one of television’s most famous couples, slammed a part of social media during a live session on Wednesday night. Taking to YouTube, the two confronted those who had been making disparaging remarks about them, particularly those who questioned Shoaib’s family’s treatment of Deepika. While Shoaib attempted to provide a fair viewpoint, an enraged Dipika screamed, “Sharam karo tum log (Have some shame)”. Both of them took a stand for themselves as well as their family. Dipika Kakar also stated that if their audience was just there to pass comments on them they can ‘Get Lost’.

Shoaib’s father recently had a stroke and was hospitalised for over three weeks. The actor’s maternal grandmother, who had come to visit them, became unwell and was taken to the hospital as well. As his father returned home this weekend, the couple put him up in their own bedroom so that he could be more comfortable, while they shifted to the guest room. The other family members are living in his parent’s flat downstairs.

In the live stream, Shoaib stated that since his father’s return, fans have been texting him about how they are being unfair to Dipika. “Uski privacy leli” (You have taken her privacy). These are the type of message you’ve been sending him. “You should be ashamed of yourself,” the actor from Sasural Simar Ka remarked. She went on to say that the comfort and health of her family members are more important to her than anything else.

“Even in such difficult times you all are pointing out such futile things and trying to troll us. I pity you guys. My in-laws have treated me like a daughter and it’s only right that I love and care for them as my own. If for them, we have to even sleep in the car or roadside, we are ready to do it. And in case you guys are saying all this out of concern, then get lost, I don’t need such concern,” Dipika said, looking terribly angry.

Shoaib Ibrahim, his husband, also stated that he and his family are being accused of being old school. “If modernisation means you don’t love or care for your family, then we’re delighted to stay old school,” he said. The couple also addressed how Dipika Kakar is being criticized for staying at home rather than taking on additional acting roles. “Aaplog kehte ho ke actor ko naukrani bana diya hai,” Shoaib remarked. Dipika is happy that, in addition to her profession, she can maintain her home on her own. She also stated that when she began working after her marriage, people had a problem with her.

“I believe they are dissatisfied with their own lives and, as a result, will never achieve fulfilment and happiness. I’ve worked diligently for years, and now I’ve decided to take on fewer tasks and devote more time to my family. I’m also asked about my attire, which is entirely my choice. As an actor, you are not always required to dress up or wear shorts. At the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference and comfort. And those who have a problem with me cooking and cleaning my house, I’d want to ask whether they use the same term for their mothers?,” Dipika Kakar questioned.

Shoaib and Dipika emphasised near the end of the film that they will not hear a word against their family. Dipika also stated that she accepts the fact that she is ‘orthodox, traditional, and old school,’ but they are happy being so.
