Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was initially offered to Divyanka Tripathi? Here’s what we know

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has entertained Indian audiences for more than a decade. The popular sitcom has been a fan favourite since its inception. Over the years, several actors tasted success by their association with this longest-running sitcom. If the latest buzz is anything to go by, then apparently Divyanka Tripathi was offered Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC). Yes, you read that right. However, the  Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actress turned down the offer.

So far we have always seen Divyanka Tripathi in a girl-next-door avatar. The actress is currently locking horns with her fears in Rohit Shetty’s Khatron Ke Khiladi 11. But did you know? Divyanka was once offered the role of Dayaben in TMKOC. According to Koimoi report, Divyanka was apparently asked to play the lead role of Daya Jethalal Gada, however for the reasons best known to her, she declined the offer.

The role of Dayaben was eventually played by Disha Vakani and she went on to make her way into people’s heart with her terrific portrayal. While it’s still not confirmed if Dayaben’s role was actually offered to Divyanka, but now that we have seen Disha Vakani in that role, it’s very difficult to picture anyone else in her shoes.

Meanwhile, Disha had taken maternity leave and has been missing from TMKOC for the last few years. Her fans have been eagerly waiting for her comeback on the show.

Coming back to Divyanka, it is also reported that she apparently rejected a string of other shows like Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, Punar Vivaah, Kya Huaa Tera Vaada to name a few.
