Amazon Prime Video’s web series Tandav is currently grabbing the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Since its release on January 15, the Saif Ali Khan and Dimple Kapadia starrer has faced a lot of backlash from a section of audience and political leaders specially of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Even FIRs were filed against the team. Ali Abbas Zafar took to his Twitter handle and issued his sincere apology on behalf of the entire cast and crew. After issuing the apology, the director shared an update on Twitter saying that the team of Tandav is having a further dialogue with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting over the complaints that have been filed against the web series.

Now, Ali Abbas Zafar has shared a statement where it is mentioned that the cast and crew have made the ‘decision to implement changes to the web series to address the concerns raised’. Towards the end of the statement, the team also thanked the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting for the ‘guidance and support’.

The new statement read: “We have utmost respect for the sentiments of the people of our country. We did not intend to hurt the sentiments of any individual, caste, community, race, religion or religious beliefs or insult or outrage any institution, political party or person, living or dead”.

The controversy started with a scene in the first episode of Tandav where Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub aka Shiva Shekhar plays the role of Lord Shiva in a college play. The narrator in the play tells Lord Shiva that he needs to do something to improve his popularity on social media as the popularity of Lord Ram is gaining. This irked a section of people and it created a hullabaloo on social media demanding for the ban of the particular scene.

Well, we hope with the latest statement of Tandav’s team, the entire controversy surrounding the political drama will come to an end.
