AICWA DEMANDS High-Level Investigation After Rajesh Sharma Falls Ill

In a statement issued on Thursday, AICWA expressed deep concern over Sharma’s medical emergency. It highlighted the need to examine the circumstances surrounding it. According to the association, Sharma’s health worsened significantly during the shoot. It led him to travel to Kolkata, where he was admitted to a private hospital for treatment. The latest updates indicate he remains under close medical supervision and is still not out of danger.

AICWA questioned why Sharma was not immediately taken to one of Hyderabad’s leading hospitals if his condition had become critical during filming. They also raised concerns about the availability of adequate emergency medical assistance on the set and whether all workplace safety, hygiene, and emergency protocols were being followed.

“The film industry has a legal and moral responsibility to provide a safe, hygienic and medically prepared working environment for every artist, technician and worker. Unfortunately, AICWA has repeatedly raised concerns regarding poor hygiene, inadequate sanitation, unsafe working conditions and the lack of proper emergency medical facilities at several shooting locations across the country,” the statement read.

The association further alleged that the full facts often do not reach the public when serious incidents occur on film sets. Workers and technicians may hesitate to speak out for fear of losing their jobs or facing professional repercussions.

AICWA Urges Telangana CM For Probe

AICWA has urged Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to order a high-level investigation into the incident at the Ramoji Film City set of Fauji. It seeks an inquiry into the cause of Sharma’s medical emergency. It includes checking whether safety and hygiene protocols were followed and whether any negligence occurred on the part of the producer, production house, or other responsible authorities.

The association has also called for strict legal action against those found responsible. It will be regardless of the production’s scale or budget, if lapses are identified during the investigation. Additionally, they have urged the producer and production house to cover all medical expenses for Sharma. The association has requested that he receive the best care until full recovery.
