Akshay Oberoi has been one of the most prolific stars in the past few years. He may have not been one of the A-listers, but he manages to come up with great content every few months and there is hardly any year which goes by without having one or two releases from him. It could either be a film or a TV show or a web show – if the content is good, you’ll see Akshay Oberoi in it. But being in the film and television industry for so long, he surely must have a lot of insights into nepotism, which has suddenly become a big term after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. So has he ever faced it?

Akshay Oberoi recently spoke to Bollywood Bubble about the same, and he was mighty candid about the whole hullabaloo around this topic. Have a look at the interview right here:

Akshay said in the interview with Bollywood Bubble, “I’ve had numerous rejections in life. Like too many. What you’re saying about being replaced by someone’s favourite for some project – it happens to me almost every day, where I’ve been signed for a project or been verbally confirmed for a project and right after that I find out that the director or producer or somebody else got some influence and got a different actor on board.

He went on to add, “However, this does not bother me one bit because there are projects out there where people will cast me because they’re my friends and they feel more comfortable working with me. To be on set with somebody, you have to be very comfortable with them. If the actor and director’s tuning is not right, the project won’t be right. So as opposed to being heartbroken by it, I use to move ahead and do better work. I’ve been around for a long time, and that’s only been possible because of this mindset that I have.

Akshay even added, “You can’t break me. Nepotism exists. If I had a business, I would obviously think of someday giving it to my son Avian. If he doesn’t want to do it, then obviously I would either sell it off or maybe find someone deserving and hand it over to them. But I’m also thinking about him only. Also, people say it’s only in India. That’s not true. It’s not only in India. It exists everywhere.

Akshay goes on to name a few of the big families around the world. Like the Ambanis or the Tatas or the Kennedys. He concludes by adding, “It genuinely doesn’t bother me as much as it’s seemingly bothering the entire universe, which is funny because I’ve faced it in my life. People need to stop using this (Nepotism) as an excuse and work harder. That’s what I feel.
