The entertainment industry mourns the loss of Amar Akbar Anthony screenwriter Prayag Raj. He contributed to some of the most iconic films including Amar Akbar Anthony, Coolie, Naseeb, and more. The writer passed away at the age of 88 due to age-related problems.

Screenwriter Prayag Raj passes away

It was on Saturday when Prayag Raj took his last breath at his Bandra residence. According to PTI, his son Aditya said, “He passed away peacefully on Saturday at 4pm at his residence in Bandra. He had multiple ailments since eight to ten years like heart disease and age-related issues.”

Raj has had a shiny career as he was a part of over 100 films, some as a writer and some as a lyricist. He also turned as a story writer for films like Naseeb, Coolie, Mard and Suhaag. Apart from these, he was also a writer for Geraftaar, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, and Kamal Haasan. He also has his contributions to films like Roti, Dharam Veer, Amar Akbar Anthony, and more.

Bollywood celebrities mourn the loss of Prayag Raj

Now, Big B took to his official blog and paid tribute to Raj saying, “Last evening we lost another pillar of our great film industry.”

Anil Kapoor took to his Twitter handle and shared an old pic with him from ‘Hifazat’. He wrote, “”I’m truly saddened by the loss of the late Prayag Raj. Working with him on “Hifazat” was a privilege. May his soul rest in peace (folded hands emoji)”

Veteran actress Shaban Azmi also took to her Twitter handle and wrote, “Sorry to hear about the passing away of writer director actor Prayag Raj. RIP”

Praya Raj was the writer for the late S Ramanathan-directed film Zamanat, which stands unreleased. Today, the last rites of Raj were performed in Dada in the presence of his friends and family.
