Ameesha Patel recalls how her relationship with Vikram Bhatt affected her career: In this industry, honesty is not welcomed

Ameesha Patel is one of the most talked-about celebrities right now. She is in the news for her upcoming film Gadar 2 co-starring Sunny Deol. Ahead of the film’s release, Ameesha looked back on her career. In a recent candid chat, Ameesha Patel recalled how publicly speaking about Vikram Bhatt and their relationship ruined her career. Given the negativity she had to face, Ameesha said that she ‘kept away from men’ for 12-13 years.

Ameesha and Vikram’s relationship was a talk of the town back then. If reports are to be believed, Ameesha and Vikram began dating while working on Ankahee. They were dating for two years. Before the release of the filmmaker’s film 1920, they called it quits.

Recalling the days, Ameesha told Bollywood Hungama, “In this industry, honesty is not welcome and I am someone, who is very honest. I am someone, who wears my heart on my sleeves. I think that has been the biggest drawback for me in my life. And definitely, the only two relationships that I ever had in public, the only two I ever had, they did take a beating on my career. For 12-13 years, I was like, ‘No men. Only peace. I want nothing else in my life’.”

Adding to that, Ameesha revealed the effects her personal relationships had on her professional life. She said, “Because the single status of a girl is always more attractive to the people that you work around. It’s always more attractive for your audiences. And they feel if you’re single or you’re dating someone in the industry or a superstar, that only benefits your career. Otherwise, they don’t accept it. See, a heroine dating a hero can still do films with the hero and continue getting work. For me, that was not the case. So, it does take a beating but you learn from it.”

For the unversed, after breaking up with Vikram, Ameesha was dating London-based businessman Kanav Puri.

On the other hand, Ameesha is gearing up for the release of Gadar 2. The actress is back as Sakina and fans are beyond excited to see her opposite Sunny. Directed by Anil Sharma, Gadar 2 is slated to release on 11^th August. It will clash with Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 at the box office.
