From chocolate boy to fearless war hero, Sidharth Malhotra aces three different looks in Shershaah

Every actor aspires to tell a story that touches the viewers’ hearts. Sidharth Malhotra’s childhood dream of playing a soldier on-screen came true when Shershaah came his way. The actor jumped at the opportunity of playing Captain Vikram Batra in Vishnu Vardhan’s Shershaah. Sidharth has given his heart and soul to his role as this is the first time in his career he will be playing a role based on a real-life war hero.

To bring the character alive on the celluloid, Sidharth has undergone excruciating physical training and mental prep. In the film, the actor will be seen sporting three different looks as the storyline chronicles various stages of Captain Vikram Batra’s life.

Based on the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra, Shershaah is a biographical war drama. The film aims to take the viewers along the ever-inspiring journey of Vikram Batra who laid down his life in the service of the nation while recapturing Indian territories from Pakistani intruders during the Kargil War in 1999.

As a part of his prep for the film, Sidharth met the family of Captain Batra and closely followed every little detail that they shared with him. Going the trailer of the film, we can see how Sidharth has impressively moulded himself to play Batra. From being a cute, loving Punjabi boy to playing a fearless war hero, the way, Sidharth has donned various looks in the film speaks volumes about his dedication to the project. In the film, Kiara Advani is essaying the role of Batra’s fiancee Dimple Cheema. In the film’s soulful tracks Ranjha and Raataan Lambiyan, we get to witness Sidharth in his flamboyant and lovable boy-next-door avatar.

From his boy-next-door avatar, we then see Sidharth morph himself into a fearless soldier who will go to any lengths when it comes to serving his nation.

Looking at the trailer and songs we can’t help but notice the unreal resemblance between Sidharth and Vikram Batra.

Earlier sharing his experience of playing Vikram Batra, Sidharth had said, “For me becoming Shershaah was like a dream come true moment… I think the biggest obstacles all of us face is fear, and Capt Vikram Batra broke that and said it with style and confidence by saying ‘Yeh Dil Maange More, sir.”

The mental, as well as physical prep the actor has undergone for his film, was taxing but he is extremely happy that his labour of love is now all set to release next week. Co-produced by Dharma Productions and Kaash Entertainments, Shershaah will release on Amazon Prime Video on August 12, ahead of Independence Day weekend.
