The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting appointed producer-director Brijendra Pal Singh as the new President of FTII (Film and Television Institute of India) Society and the Chairperson of the FTII governing council. Brijendra is the director and producer of the longest running crime investigation series on television, ‘CID’.

Prior to his appointment as the chairman, Brijendra was the Vice-Chairman of the FTII governing council. Veteran actor Anupam Kher resigned as the chairman of FTII, in October owing to his commitments to his international acting assignments. “The tenure of Singh, who succeeds Anupam Kher, will be for the remaining period of the block of three years starting from March 3, 2017, as per the provisions of FTII rules,” said the FTII release.

The official handle of FTII made the announcement regarding Brijendra’s appointment as its chairman yesterday.

Brijendra Pal Singh is also an alumnus of FTII institute.

BP Singh’s ‘CID’ landed a place in Limca Book of Records after they shot a single continuous shot of 111 minutes to mark the completion of six years of the show. Apart from ‘CID’, Brijendra also has the hit horror serial ‘Aahat’ to his credit as a producer.
