So, the inevitable has finally happened as Anupam Kher resigned as the chairman of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) citing work commitments and busy schedule. The actor was appointed as the chairman of the prestigious institute in October 2017. He had replaced Gajendra Chauhan. The veteran actor took to Twitter and shared the news of his resignation.

“It has been an honour, a privilege & a great learning experience to be the Chairman of the prestigious @FTIIOfficial. But because of my international assignments, I won’t have much time to devote at the institute. Hence decided to send my resignation. Thank You. @Ra_THORe”

In another tweet, Kher thanked the staff, students and teachers at the FTII and said, “Thank you staff, teachers & students of @FTIIOfficial for your support & appreciation during my tenure as chairman. As an individual you can always reach out to me. We have constituted a very learned & capable governing body & academic society who will guide you at their best.”

Twitterati, as usual, had mixed response to his decision; Let’s check out some of the reactions:

Anupam Kher is currently playing Dr Vijay Kapoor in the medical drama ‘New Amsterdam’ that airs on NBC.  Kher will be next seen in the Bollywood film ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ which is based on Sanjay Baru’s book on former PM Manmohan Singh.
