Dalip Tahil receives two months sentence in prison for a 2018 drunk driving case

Veteran actor Dalip Tahil has been recently sentenced to two months in jail in a 2018 case of drink and drive against him. This comes for the incident that had the actor jam his car into an autorickshaw, while he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

The conviction came from a magistrate court after a medical expert gave their testimony in the case. The incident that took place in 2018, allegedly had Tahil ram his care in an autorickshaw in Khar. There were two passengers, Jenita Gandhi (21) and Gaurav Chugh (22) who were left injured in the accident.

As per a report in The Hindu, a Khar police official had stated, “The impact of the collision caused Ms. Gandhi sustain a severe jolt to her back and neck. Ms. Gandhi and Mr. Chugh got off the autorickshaw and saw the car trying to flee towards Santacruz.” Reportedly, after Tahil was trying to flee the scene, he was eventually caught up by the passengers. Once they got to him, he started arguing with them, and eventually the police had to step in.

Tahil was booked for causing injury due to rash and negligent driving under the Indian Penal Code. He was also booked for driving under the influence of alcohol under the Motor Vehicles Act. As per a Khar police official, Tahil had refused to give his blood sample when he and the two auto passengers were taken for medical check up. He was taken into custody and later granted bail.
