Deepika Padukone Raises Concerns Over Mumbai’s Air Pollution; Says, “This City And Its Children Are Choking”

Mumbai’s air quality has raised concerns among residents and celebrities alike, with Deepika Padukone calling for immediate action. On Thursday, the city woke up to a dense layer of smog blanketing several areas, significantly reducing visibility. Deepika Padukone expressed her alarm over the worsening air pollution in Mumbai and appealed to authorities to act swiftly for the well-being of the city’s inhabitants.

Sharing a screenshot of the Air Quality Index (AQI) map on her Instagram Stories, the actress highlighted the severity of the pollution levels across multiple parts of Mumbai. She wrote, “This city (& its children) are choking! How is this okay!?” and tagged the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and the city’s health department, urging them to take urgent measures. Currently, Mumbai’s AQI is at 159, which classifies the air quality as ‘unhealthy.’

Deepika Padukone’s Upcoming Projects

Earlier, Deepika was linked to Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Spirit. However, as per reports, she exited the project after the makers rejected her demands for an 8-hour workday and a share of the profits. She will also not be participating in the ongoing shoot of the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. The film is presently under production.

Deepika Padukone’s next appearance will be in Siddharth Anand’s film King. It stars Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Saurabh Shukla, and Abhishek Bachchan in key parts. This marks the sixth collaboration between Deepika and Shah Rukh. The duo have delivered hits like Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, Jawan, and Pathaan. One of the most highly anticipated films of the year, King is scheduled for release on December 24.

Additionally, Deepika has Atlee’s upcoming sci-fi action film AA22 A6 in her lineup. The project, which remains untitled, stars Allu Arjun in the lead. It is currently in production, with a planned release in 2027.
