Dhanush To Team Up With Sanjay Leela Bhansali For ‘Big-Budget Mythological Jungle Drama’- Report

After winning hearts of millions and dominating the Tamil film industry with hits, Dhanush stepped into Bollywood with Aanand L Rai’s 2013 romantic drama Raanjhanaa. Post that, he starred alongside Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan in Atrangi Re before collaborating with Rai once again for Tere Ishk Mein. While some fans are still enjoying his and Kriti Sanon’s performance in the 2025 romantic drama, we now hear he’s all set for his next Bollywood film.

As per a report, Dhanush will be collaborating with ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for what is likely his most ambitious Bollywood venture so far. Scroll below to know all about the project.

Dhanush, Sanjay Leela Bhansali To Collab On A Mythological Drama

As reported by Variety India, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set to collaborate with Dhanush for an ambitious new project. The film – believed to be a mythological drama, will be set against a dense jungle backdrop. The report further stated that the film – being developed under SLB’s banner Bhansali Productions, will be directed by Tamil filmmaker P S Mithran. This project will mark Mithran directorial debut in Hindi cinema as well as his first collab with Dhanush.

The report noted that P S Mithran was earlier working with Bhansali Productions on Rowdy Rathore 2. However, after that project failed to take off, the team began developing new ideas and eventually landed on this mythological story set in a jungle. After several rounds of rewriting and refinement, the script was finalised a couple of months ago. Post this finalisation, the hunt for the lead actor began.

The report also claims that Ram Charan was initially in discussions for the role. Filming of the still untitled project is expected to begin in early 2027.

Dhanush’s Upcoming Projects

On the work front, Dhanush will next be seen in Vignesh Raja’s upcoming film Kara. Set during the Gulf War, the film will see Dhanush plays a desperate robber. The film also stars Mamitha Baiju, Jayaram and KS Ravikumar in pivotal roles. It will release in theatres on April 30.

Dhanush will begin shooting for Mar Selvaraj’s upcoming film after wrapping the shoot of Rajkumar Periyasamy’s D55. He will also star in a film with Lubber Pandhu director Pachaimuthu Thamizharasan, and Vada Chennai 2.
