On Sunday, Prakash Raj shared his perspective on the controversy via his X (formerly Twitter) account. By posting images of various food items, he emphasised Kerala’s cultural and religious diversity, suggesting that all communities coexist peacefully. His comments implied that the narrative portrayed in the film does not reflect the true spirit of the state.

The controversy surrounding The Kerala Story 2 has drawn sharp criticism from several quarters. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap publicly denounced the movie, calling it “bullshit propaganda” and questioning its authenticity, saying, “Who feeds someone beef like this? Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also condemned the film, asserting that it falsely portrays Kerala—known for its religious harmony and progressive development—as a hub of terrorism. In a statement, Vijayan urged citizens to reject such propaganda, emphasising the importance of safeguarding the state’s secular fabric and promoting brotherhood.

Additionally, a petition has been filed in the Kerala High Court seeking to halt the film’s release. The petitioner argued that the teaser’s portrayal of three women from Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan falling prey to terrorists using romance to convert girls could incite law and order issues. Despite the controversy, the film has received a U/A certification from the Central Board of Film Certification.
