Amid ongoing tensions between Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh over the Rs 40 crore claim related to Singh’s exit from ‘Don 3’, sources indicate that the Producers Guild of India plans to convene both parties by the end of February to seek a resolution. The dispute arose in recent weeks when Ranveer Singh withdrew from the project, prompting Farhan Akhtar’s production company, Excel Entertainment, to demand Rs 40 crore in damages. The conflict remains unresolved, with insiders revealing that the issue has not yet been formally brought before the Guild’s general body but is scheduled for discussion at the end of February.
Producers Guide Of India To Address Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar Don 3 Controversy
A senior Guild member told Mid-Day, “No formal complaint has been submitted to the general body yet, but both sides will be heard informally.” Another source explained that after these informal discussions, both parties will have a 10-day window to attempt a mutual agreement. “If negotiations fail, the matter is likely to be referred to the Cine & TV Artistes Association [CINTAA], which would help ensure a fair balance of interests for both the producer and the artist.”
Besides seeking resolution, the case — which involves Akhtar’s production house claiming compensation for losses related to pre-production, scheduling disruptions, and entourage expenses — is also expected to set a precedent for policy reform concerning rising production costs. An insider added, “Producers are under increasing financial strain due to the growing size of entourages. With stars’ entourages often appearing bloated, as seen in this case, implementing clear guidelines is essential.”
Details Of The Fallout
A report by Bollywood Hungama suggests that after the disagreement, two secret meetings were held involving some of the industry’s most influential figures. The first meeting saw senior producers discussing the circumstances surrounding Ranveer’s exit and the broader implications for producers when a film stalls at an advanced stage. The second meeting included notable personalities like Aamir Khan, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Ramesh Taurani, and Kumar Taurani, who discussed Ranveer’s position and prospects.
Is Don 3 On Hold?
Weeks after Ranveer Singh’s departure, reports indicate that Farhan Akhtar may have decided to put Don 3 on hold. According to Pinkvilla, Akhtar is hesitant to rush the casting process and has chosen to delay making a final decision. Instead, he plans to focus on Jee Le Zaraa, starring Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif, which is currently his priority.
