The Qala actor was asked about how women have influenced his life in personal as well as professional capacity. Speaking on the same, Babil opened up about his struggles growing up. He recalled he was ragged for speaking to girls and how his mother Sutapa Sikdar helped him through it all, while growing up.

Babil said, “I always growing up, boys didn’t want to be my friends. I don’t know what it was about me. But, guys always ragged me and I couldn’t come back. Main bas facial expression banake chala jaata tha (I just made a facial expression and left). And I would love to talk about my feelings. I’d just love to talk. I don’t know, just organically, I’ve always had more female friends. And, guys would think that yeh ladki pata raha hai (he is flirting with girls) and they’d get jealous.”

He added, “It was a really strange environment. But all I wanted to do was talk about my feelings. And, mumma (Sutapa Sikdar) was the one that was physically present. And I think that relationship, growing up was so important for me. And I feel like I never thought about these things. There’s just this bond. And I just feel open and I feel free.

Khan continued, “Because of Mumma’s upbringing, there’s a certain responsibility as well towards how the world is right now. And how the society is right now and what the place of women in society is right now. And what you would like it to be. There’s a responsibility towards that of course. And that comes from the upbringing.”
