Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha have been gearing up for their recently released movie, Double XL, that revolves around body-shaming. The actresses are busy promoting their film in full swing. Ahead of the release of Double XL, Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha sat down with us for a candid interview. On Bollywood Bubble’s Reel Buddies, Qureshi opened up about the time when she stopped paying attention to body-shaming. Sonakshi also spoke at length on her experience.

Huma told Bollywood Bubble, “As an actor, for me that moment came in the middle of the pandemic about couple of years ago. I think, it was the day I decided to do a role like Maharani because I think you have to understand you know like people tell you all sorts of things as an actress. Weight is one aspect of it. The other could be AIDS, the other could be playing a mother.

She added, “When I chose to do that character, of course, and all these things in my head. And I was also scared, but I think, the moment I decided, you know I’m going to do this, because I believe in the script and I believe in the work. I think something shifted inside of me as a person, because I’m like ‘No, I’m not going to be scared’.

The Maharani actress continued, “But, I feel, it’s been so liberating. And I’m actually having the best time of my life doing some amazing work. And, I’m really proud of the stuff that I’m doing in this phase of my career.

When Sonakshi Sinha was asked about her experience, the actress revealed she began to ignore body-shamers very early in her career. Speaking on the topic further, Sinha shared, “I feel because, there was so much chatter about my size and shape and the way I looked. And how I didn’t look like the other heroines that there were. My reply even then used to be I’m still working every single day of the year. I’m doing so many films. My producers don’t have a problem, my directors don’t have a problem so this is not an issue for me.”

The Double XL actress added, “I’m living my life. I’m doing well for myself. I’m making my parents proud and that’s all that matters honestly. So yeah, pretty early on I think it’s very important to learn how to ignore things that are bringing you down.
