In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble host, Bhavna Agarwal filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri and actress Pallavi Joshi open up on the film’s huge success and the political support it is receiving.

The filmmaker was asked if he had expected the humongous response The Kashmir Files has received? To which Vivek says, “Why would I make a film if I did not want to bring about a change? But I was not expecting this type of mass movement around it. Now people have owned the film, it has become their film, which is a good thing. But the thing is that we live in a kind of society where people don’t believe in the quality of the work done until and unless it becomes very big at the box office. So yes, it was satisfying that people are going to take us seriously.”

Pallavi said, “It is a very satisfying film because when you work and when you give years of your life to something, the kind of response it is generating and the fact that it is touching the people. Somewhere we have hit the right chords. You know people are very disconnected, and they sometimes just go and see the cinema just for entertainment and they go back home and start leading their lives. But here there is so much take away from the film that people are going back and doing something for the film they have seen also doing something for the community. We are totally in gratitude for this to happen. I just can’t describe the feeling…

On being asked about the criticism of some and the support the movie has been receiving from political parties?

Vivek Agnihotri says, “I will honestly say this that not many know we had started screening the film in November in America and other places. Since then the movie was being promoted through word of mouth. The movie was released on Friday and the collection started growing with each passing day. The day by day increase left people curious. They wondered how it is happening? Now politicians can understand the pulse of the masses. They realised the masses were interested and they also realised that it is time for them to take a stand. That is the reason many political parties started supporting the film. The point that the Prime Minister made was that if there is a film based on facts, and this film is based on facts, then you criticise it factually. He also said that there are so many stories in India you should make a film on that.
