EXCLUSIVE: Gauahar Khan heaps praises on Rocket Singh co-star Ranbir Kapoor, says, ‘He is yet to get his due as an actor’

Gauahar Khan is one of the most popular stars in the industry. In 2009, Gauahar made her Bollywood debut with Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year. Gauahar Khan shared the screen space with Ranbir Kapoor in the movie. Gauahar had won hearts with her performance in the Shimit Amin directorial. Now, in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Gauahar got candid as she spoke about Rocket Singh.

The actress expressed her belief that the film was way ahead of its time and feels confident that if it was released today, it would have been a blockbuster, due to the script and performances. She also mentioned that everything happens for a reason. She said, “If Rocket Singh had to release today, I think it would have been the biggest blockbusters with the kind of film that it was, with the kind of writing that it had, with the kind of actors that it had. It just came way ahead of its time and that time the industry was not ready for a film like that. For a simple film that was so strong on paper, so strong in performances that it should have probably swept off all the awards that year.”

Gauahar added, “I got a nomination, I was in debut and Best Supporting Actor, and I got one award as well. I think if it had reelased today, I would probably have been the next superstar to have hit the market. But I also believe that everything happens for the best. If I hadn’t debuted with Rocket Singh I wouldn’t be the actor that I am today. I was exposed right at the beginning to a director like Shimit Amin who gave me the opportunity to do a film like Rocky Singh.”

Gurthermore, Gauahar showered praises on her Rocket Singh co-star Ranbir Kapoor. She added, “I still feel like he hasn’t got his due as an actor that he can do. Look at Barfi, I think it was his best film ever. And I’m so happy that films like Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar has done well. So, I’m happy for him. I am happy that he’s finally getting the success not just as an actor but also at the box office because I truly believe that he’s a fantastic actor.”

Apart from Rocket Singh, Gauahar has also been a part of films like Ishaqzaade, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and Begum Jaan among others.
