‘Haraamkhor’, ‘Dhanak’ to be shown at IFFLA

Shlok Sharma’s “Haraamkhor” and Nagesh Kukunoor’s “Dhanak” will be the opening and closing films of the 13th annual Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) respectively.

The world premiere of “Haraamkhor,” written and directed by Sharma and starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, will be held at the opening of the gala here on April 8, while the US premiere of Kukunoor’s award-winning “Dhanak” will close the festival on April 12, reports variety.com.

The filmmakers, actor Nawazuddin and “Haraamkhor” producer Guneet Monga will attend the festival.

“Haraamkhor” tells the story of a young student falling for a 15-year-old classmate and his efforts to win her affection. However, the girl is found to be having an affair with her teacher, played by Nawazuddin.

“Dhanak” is a story about a sister leading her blind 9-year-old brother across Rajasthan in an attempt to meet Bollywood star Shah Rukh Kahn, with the promise that he’ll get his vision back before his birthday.

The festival’s complete lineup will be announced on March 10.
