After the success of her directorial debut ‘Manikarnika’, Kangana Ranaut had revealed that she is planning to make her biopic. However, on her birthday, the actress announced that she will be starring in the biopic of actress-turned-politician J Jayalalithaa. Sharing the reason behind the change of plans, Kangana revealed how ‘Baahubali’ scriptwriter Vijayendra Prasad (who was supposed to pen Kangana’s biopic) came up to her and told her about how Jayalalithaa’s story is very similar to her own.

In an interview to Mumbai Mirror, Kangana revealed that before taking up the biopic, she researched about the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. “It presented an image of her that was contrary to the one I had in my mind, so I asked for some time to think over the film during which I read up some more on her and was blown away by what I learnt. It’s a story that needs to be told and I am happy to be telling it even though she was the absolute opposite of me,” said the ‘Queen’ actress.

Explaining how the late politician is opposite of her, Kangana said that she was far more docile and refined in her demeanour. “She was always ladylike no matter what she was going through. She’s risen over every controversy and adversity and I could identify with that spirit, though our styles of expression are very different,” Kangana added.
